Interior designers talk about a Niche, which is an ornamental recess in a wall or the like, usually planned for a decorative object. It’s a place, position or thing suitable for only you. It does not put you in a box.
It just means you have found what works for your life, and you are gratified. It can include your style, friendship circle, what you enjoy or who you are at date. YOUR NICHE IS ALL ABOUT YOU!!! Being a firm believer in individuality I think everyone should go on journey to find their niche that could be from what you study to the way you wear your hair. When the world sets ideological trends, don’t just follow. Keep calm and think first. Discover what truly works for you and remember that it is a journey, not a destination. Once you have found that niche, focus on it and develop it. The best way to find your niche is by unlocking your passion, if you love something you will give it your all and maybe we might even start seeing some consistency. Sit alone in a quite place and write these down What do I enjoy doing? What would make me happy? What am I passionate about? Reflect on what you’ve done and what made you feel a swirl of greatness. What we forget is that not all things are for all people. We forget to be kind to ourselves. Just Start
Start first with a plan, whether is a business plan or a mini plan of action just start. Sell your product and get potential buyers. Once you see that your service or product is in need, start recording and building up a business plan. Make time When you are working a full time job, finding the time for a side business can seem hard but start with giving your business time whether it’s in the morning or at night. Start first by putting aside 15mins, then 30mins and then increase as you go along. Find a business model Sometimes you don’t have to find a business idea; you can go along with a business that’s already in place. E.g. like a direct marketing business or a franchise. Search for a company that stand for what you believe and take it from there. Or Find your own business idea that works for you. You can always search bplan.com for a business template similar to the idea that you have. Find clients Find people that will buy your product or service, build brand awareness and market your potential clients aware of your services. Build a facebook page, this is a great way to communicate with clients, or any form of online communication. It’s always great if you talk about your product and a client can put a name to face. *P.S when someone sells me a product I always google the name and if I don’t find it. It’s always a disappointment because I would like to follow their work and hear more from them. Because you ccan’toffer your services like a full time business let your clients know that you are a part-time business owner, so there isn’t any confusion. Manage your money This is your side business; you may need to cash in some money in order for it to grow. Keep all your invoices and record the income and expenses. Keep your finance in order and once you have a proper finance system you can approach business partners, investors or the bank for a loan, all they want to see is that the business is making money and is sustainable.
So you started your business or you are looking for ways to grow your brand. What better way to do it on the instagram, everyone is online everyday. With over 1 million potential clients. *Oh Yeah* First thing is first - lets build a checklist and lets get busy. Images Are your images of great quality and do they shout LOOK AT ME or are they just plain and simple? Instagram is a visual world, you need to have images that are eye catching and great quality. *You can either invest in a good camera, hire someone to take your images or you can use free stock images* unsplash - great for social media gettingimages - great for blogging (you can embed the images into your posts) Communication Now that you have images up and ready for uploading, what is the next step? You will need to communicate to your audience and let them know that you are open for business. Follow at least 3 different people a day, comment on their images. Chance is they will follow back if you are what they are looking for. When someone comments on your images - like their comment or communicate back. It may seem like its a waste of time but you audience will appreciate that you are noticing them. Hashtags Hashtags are a great way to get noticed. You may have seen that other accounts have a million hashtags, believe it or not but this will help your audience to find you with ease. Hashtag expects suggest you use 30 hashtags related to your brand. If you are selling cupcakes you really cant be hashtaging about football. Rather use #happiness, #bosslady etc. If you are unsure have a look at what your competitor is hashtaging on. BIO Its always a great idea to embed your website into your bio, this way your audience get a chance to see you website, helping you to grow your email list. Happy Instagraming - Gurlish Gal By: Mosa Malebo In today’s dynamic and ever changing world – starting a business is not as easy and 1 dimensional as it used to be 50 years ago. With the advancement of technology, the world is becoming smaller and smaller. It is therefore vital that businesses keep abreast with this ever changing evolution. Market research can give useful insights into the mind of the consumer which can keep businesses a step ahead.
The next question on your mind should be – what does this mean for me, the prospective business starter? I will unpack the some key points that one needs to be aware of when considering what it really takes to get an in-depth understanding of your consumer, what their needs are and if your business is relevant. 1. Understand your product – profile the consumer you would like to sell this product/service to I.Why would this consumer choose to buy the product? 2. Understand the area you are targeting. I. What are the important things you need to consider in terms of location of your product/service? Does it require that your customers travel too far? II.Prospects for growth geographically? 3. Understand the occasion I.What occasion would bring about the need to have a product/ service such as the one you are offering 4. Who are your competitors I.What differentiates you from them II.What differentiates you’re offering from theirs? 5. Understand your numbers I.How many people would use your products? II.How many people are willing to pay the price you are charging for your offering III.What are your competitors charging Research can help gain a deeper understanding into each one of the questions above. More so if you ask the right questions to the right people. Research until recently has been seen as a luxurious product that is invested in more heavily by big companies. This should not be the case. If you can do the correct type of research, assisted by a research specialist who understands where you are in your business and will not take advantage of that – you could potentially save thousands even millions of Rands selling the “right” product/service to the wrong market. Or even help make millions by simply changing your offering slightly to meet the needs of your clientele. As the youth of today, and the leaders of tomorrow – we need to start basing our decisions on facts. Although there will be things in your business that will rely heavily in intuition – the aid of factual data sometimes makes this decision making a lot easier. By: Monica Moeletsi-Nhlapo |
